Global Missions Praises and Prayer Requests for the week of August 1-7, 2011

Praise God for the work camps from Lima, Ohio and Wichita, Kansas who came to Uganda to work on and finish up projects on Llolwe Island and Businywa. It is such an encouragement to the church people in Uganda to have groups come and hearten them. It gives them hope and confidence for a better future.

Argentina: Pray for the 15 persons who have come to faith in Christ through evangelism Azara.  Pray for the growth of these new believers.

Continue to pray for The Lamelas family who has been resettled in the US because of persecution they suffered in Cuba.  Pastor Carlos Lamelas was the national leader of the Church of God in Cuba.  Pray for the church in Cuba as they continue on without their leader.

Pray for Bernie Barton, missionary to Japan, as he returns to Japan and his home for the first time after Cheryl’s passing. 

Pray for encouragement and assurance for missionary/pastor Moise Soro who faces resistance to his sharing the Gospel in Bobo-Dioulasso in Burkina Faso, West Africa.

Global Missions Prayer requests for the week of June 27 - July 3, 2011

Pray for the NAC, for conference and worship leaders, for the General Assembly as they make decisions for the Church, for preachers as they deliver the word from God and for safe travel for convention attendees.

Pray for the family of Cheryl Barton.  Cheryl passed on June 26 after a courageous battle against cancer.  The service of memorial and celebration of Cheryl’s life will be Wednesday, June 29, 2011.

Pray for missionaries Paul, Kattia, and Tabitha Jones as they travel back to Bolivia to resume their ministry responsibilities following their home assignment in the U.S.

Pray for Dwayne and Kara Goldman family as they finish up their travels and fund raising in the U.S. during the month of July and leave August 1 for their new assignment in Trinidad/Tobago.

Pray for newly commissioned missionaries Ken and Keli Oldham family and Scott and Deanna Compton family as they continue to raise funds for their support on the mission field.

 

Pray for new missionary Nelecia Murrell, commissioned on June 27 to serve in Kobe, Japan.

Global Missions Praise and Prayer Concerns for the week of June 13-19, 2011

Pray for Global Missions Staff and Regional Coordinators as they meet this week.  Pray for God’s blessing and wisdom to pour down upon them.

Pray for the safety of the children in the Safina program (Tanzania Children of Promise).  Some of them will walk up to six hours to and from their villages.

Pray for missionaries Cheryl and Bernie Barton as they continue to fight this cancer that is in Cheryl’s body.

Pray for the Church of God in London and the United Kingdom.  These churches are in some of the most ethnically diverse places in the world.  Pray that the Church will be able to reach out to their multi-cultural neighbors.

Pray for Bulgaria missionaries Dave and Kathy Simpson as they minister and work alongside the Bulgarian Evangelical Church of God.

Global Missions Prayer concerns and Praises for the week of June 6-12, 2011

Thank God for opportunities given to Abby Smith, missionary in Bogotá, Colombia, to connect with some of the youth girls through one-on-one time and conversations.

Pray for the Safina team (Children of Promise in Tanzania), Herman, Kaupi and Samweli are associate directors and lead the area meetings in each of the fifteen villages that will be visited.

Pray for Church of God Ministries staff and employees, for conference leaders, and musicians as they prepare for the North American Convention later this month, June 24-29, 2011.

Continue to pray for the recovery efforts and for opportunities for Christians to be the hands and feet of Christ in the stricken Sendai region of northeastern Japan.

Pray for Tyler Hobbs as he completes his SAM assignment in Kobe, Japan, and the successful completion of his two-year assignment.

Global Missions Praise and Prayer Concerns for the week of May 23-29, 2011

Pray for our churches and friends in Joplin, MO, Bessemer, AL and others who have been effected by tornados and flooding in recent weeks.

Pray for Don Smith, Global Missions staff, as he travels with an “Eye On the World” Go and Teach group from County Line Church, Auburn, Indiana.  Pray that they are a blessing and are blessed by the Plovdiv, Bulgaria Church where Kathy and David Simpson are missionaries.

Pray for national leader Dorothy Colney and the intensive Leadership Training School this week in Myanmar.  Pray for Don Deena Johnson, John Johnson and Warner Pacific College students who will have teaching assignments for this training school.

Pray for the KIST students who have graduated.  Pray that God will make their ministries and calling clear.

Pray for the Church of God in Tanzania as they adjust to leadership and new forms of church government.

Global Missions Weekly Praise & Prayer Concerns for the week of May 9-15, 2011

Praise the Lord! There is a new Church of God in Arco, Italy.  Pastor Nicola Lovaglio and his wife, Bertha, who have worked with the Church of God in Venezuela and Rome, have seized this wonderful opportunity to gain a foothold in this region where there are few evangelical churches.

Pray for missionary to Japan, Bernie Barton, as he travels to Tokyo May 13-21.  Pray for those whom he’ll meet with at the church and the school and for stamina and health for him and for Cheryl.

Praise God that Pastor Daniel, in our Asia/Pacific Region, baptized six new adult converts on Easter Sunday.

Pray for the youth in the discipleship class, as they drawer closer to God.  Amanda Smith, missionary to Colombia, asks that you pray for these youth to draw closer to God as they face new challenges to their faith.

Pray for spiritual growth, encouragement, and assurance for the seven newly baptized persons in the Bobo-Dioulasso Church of God in Burkino Faso.
